Hey guys, me and a couple of others have decided that we're going to make a Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 Level Pack to let people demo to game before it comes out! In order to do this, we're going to need to get a few more levels done.
This is what the demo will include:
- Custom world map featuring the following levels (Possible, not done)
- Cloudy Heights Galaxy (Needs Revision)
- Sky Station Galaxy (Not done)
- Rolling Halfpipe (Not done)
- Flip Swap Galaxy (Done)
- Bowser's Lava Lair (Not Done)
- Super Mario Bros 1-1 (Done, minor tweaking needed)
If you have any suggestions for levels, let me know.

Hm, I never even thought about releasing a demo, but it'll be great for testing! Can it have custom music?

Hmm. I guess since I'm the only one who understands World Maps, I have to do at least part of this. Aww... Now I wish I had taken a picture of me wearing my Super Mario Galaxy shirt and giving a thumbs up. It could have been my official NWPlayer123's Official Seal of Approval I like this.

If need be, I can make a level design for Lava Lair, only I'd need some details on the IRC about what you want it to look like.

Like I said in the other thread, I think we need to create a full SMB Galaxy with 2 stars because then it could be the hungry luma galaxy. So I think along with tweaking SMB1-1, we should make SMB1-2

Like I said in the other thread, I think we need to create a full SMB Galaxy with 2 stars because then it could be the hungry luma galaxy. So I think along with tweaking SMB1-1, we should make SMB1-2 Honestly dude I could not agree more with that idea! I 100% think it'd be great to have the SMB levels in a hungry luma galaxy, however I saw it mentioned that the level needed improvements... the obvious ones would be the camera when you first land at the start of the level: I think rather than having Mario face away from the level at touchdown he should be facing the correct direction, that way when the camera flicks to the 2D mode like SMB you've already seen the level stretched out before you (would be more epic). The camera after going through the secret warp pipe is a little zoomed out too, it should probably go closer to Mario when he uses the pipe. Is it possible to have boxes that don't disappear when you break them? If so it'd be perfect for some of the ones in this level. Next, I was thinking about how in SMB there is a time limit for levels and as this one is pretty easy at present I think it'd be a better idea to have it counting down with green clocks in certain areas perhaps. When Mario lands on the final pole at the end of the level it seems fitting to place a 1-up on top of it since if you land on the top of the pole in that game you get a 1-up Finally; the idea of having a seperate SMB level for each of the 3 stars is a great idea too, however I think that in order to make it a proper galaxy there has to be at least one area that each of the missions shares. Perhaps the initial touchdown could occur on a different planet with some distinguishing features and a SMB theme? (That way there would also be something for the map logo of the galaxy) There could be a pipe that appears in a different place for each of the 3 stars on the first planet or maybe a small SMB-themed puzzle before getting to the 1-1 and 1-2 stages. Well, that's my two cents. I hope at least some of it can go towards making this game better!

Hmm, IDK. First you have to the purple coins in and THEN we'll see. I feel fairly certain that today after homework I can get custom stars working. So add the purple coins and PM the level and I will see if I can't get it working. So maybe in beat block we can have 2 normal stars and a comet. If so, should star 1 be the normal mission in beat block and then star 2 be the custom one and then the third one be the purple coin mission?

Are you indeed going to try to make all the Stars for the galaxies on the demo? If so, MrRean, you could try to place the purple coins in Martboo's Flip-Swap instead.

No, that would be really bad. One person doing 10+ stars will take WAY too long. We need several people working on creating these. I might even take on 1 or 2 stars, if need be.

Am I supposed to message Martboo directly? I have an almost complete level plan for Honeyhop Galaxy but I find my suggestions either ignored completely or told that they're not suitable for the project :S

They're not being ignored, I've taken them into account and will bring it up on the IRC.

They're not being ignored, I've taken them into account and will bring it up on the IRC. Ok thanks! Just to check though, is Honeyhop Galaxy one of the ones that is confirmed to feature in SMG2.5 or is it one of the original ones that was set for replacement? I think I have a few ideas to make better use of the bees both in that galaxy and possibly across a few others too....
