Have an idea for the SMG2.5 demo but don't know what thread to post it in? Post it here! This is the thread for posting any ideas for the demo that don't relate to the other threads on this board.

I was taking a look at a few wiki-pages and Youtube videos and I noticed that SMG has LOADS of unused enemies with full animations, along with a few that have only partial ones. Is it possible to turn some of these into possible bosses or normal enemies? I did read somewhere that we can't create new boss battles yet, but these two links show plenty of things never used: tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Galaxyand tcrf.net/Super_Mario_Galaxy/Unused_CharactersThe reason why I bring this up is mainly to bring them to peoples' attention so that maybe there could be some galaxies designed around them. For example the Bully enemies even have what appears to be a boss already made! TicoJii could perhaps also feature within the observatory as one of Rosalina's advisors. Thoughts?

What we need now for a demo is just the typical galaxy, some exported models, and a castle galaxy. We don't really need a lot of stuff, we just need to "tell them" that this hasn't been random hacking, and that we are actually working on something.

It would be nice to have one SMS level included...
That would sure get my attention.

What about the SMG models? Can they be used as well?

Another idea: SMG2.5 should be easily accessable for players of all abilities (the idea of this project is not to make the game insanely difficult, it's to make it fun and extend the life for further playtime). With this in mind I think there should be a difficulty option either in the game itself (before selecting a file to play on) or on the Riivolution screen (this one should be pretty easy to implement). The difficulty will relate to the number of health bars Mario has so there would be no need to edit levels specifically for this (unless the creators wanted to that is), I picture it as follows:
Easy = 8 health bars (already exists within the game as a beta element - life mushroom could perhaps raise it to 10?) Normal = The standard 3 bars found normally in the game Hard = Just 2 bars of health (maybe only 1 but then daredevil runs would be no different from the rest of the game)
With something like this within the game it will allow people to challenge themselves further. Say for example someone plays the whole of 2.5 on easy, they can then set the difficulty to hard and beat the game again which will, in turn, extend the life of the game even further.
Glem if you're reading this I really hope you agree and I personally don't see any pitfalls in the idea, but I'd like to know opinions on this

We would have to program all into the actual game, which would not happen anywhere in the near future. The ONLY way we would have difficulties would be to have 3 different versions of each different level and change them in Riivolution, which is entirely possible, but it's about time, and we need to finish the demo as quickly as we can. Maybe for the final game though.

I think that five Galaxies Should be included in the Demo.
It should not be only Home-Made galaxies that they could have made themselves either.
Since we can import models, eveb with terrible textures, I believe we should have the following included:
Good Egg Galaxy (A remake for SMG Using Files from SMG and Modified to work with SMG2)
A Super Mario Sunshine Level, Perhaps Bianco Hills. (It could have three missions: Defeat Dino Piranha of a Plant above the Windmill, Collect five Silver Stars, Going into the 'secret' cave and take a sling star to a Twisty Trials Like Galaxy)
A SM64 Level, why Not Bob-Omb Battlefield? I have that model from SM64DS (In 3DS Formatc). (It could have three Missions: Mario 'Slings To The Sky' (He uses a Bee Mushroom And various Sling Stars to get 5 silver disguised as coins), Defeat The Whomp King On Top Of The Hill (Since we don't have a Bob-Omb Boss), and then find a secret passage to inside of the Hill, and complete a Maze)
Two other Home Made Galaxies (Glem can choose)
We should also have Starman Fortress from SMG now that we can have custom collision accessed from the Starship Mario, and Rosalina's Comet Observitory.
And since NWPlayer does know how to add extra worlds, this should all Take Place in World DEMO, and should be before World 1 so anyone, despite ther progress so far in the game, can access it.

Maybe for the final game though. Yes sorry I didn't mean for it to be in the demo :/ bit of confusion there on my part... I meant to the final game. It would be a lot of effort for just the demo when the effort should currently be placed elsewhere, I was just getting some ideas flowing. I think that five Galaxies Should be included in the Demo. It should not be only Home-Made galaxies that they could have made themselves either. Since we can import models, even with terrible textures, I believe we should have the following included: Good Egg Galaxy (A remake for SMG Using Files from SMG and Modified to work with SMG2) A Super Mario Sunshine Level, Perhaps Bianco Hills. And since NWPlayer does know how to add extra worlds, this should all Take Place in World DEMO, and should be before World 1 so anyone, despite ther progress so far in the game, can access it. We should probably try to minimise the number of SMG1 galaxies that are reused within the game (even for the demo), and Good Egg Galaxy seems redundant when Beta Blast Galaxy will feature the beta GEG main planet model. Bob-Omb Battlefield is my favorite level in that game so of course I wish it was included in the beta of 2.5 (although it would potentially need an upgrade to the textures, I don't remember exactly how they were in SM64DS) however I think the Whomp King should probably be saved for somewhere else - if he's used at all that is. My idea for Bob-Omb Battlefield is to use the unused Bully boss from SMG1 up there and have several of the pannels that spawn bob-ombs every few seconds so they can come and attack you while you're trying to kill the Bully. It's not ideal I know but it makes a little more sense than Whomp King I think. Why should Starman Fort be accessed from Starship Mario? :S That needs some clearing up I think. It's necessary to have one main hub (Starship Mario), nice to have a second (Comet Observatory) but having three is too much imo.

Well I mean for the Demo.
That way we can have separate videos like "Good Egg Galaxy in SMG2", and it could link to the demo.
And the Bully, is he even functional? There is also the process of editing his Data files of the Bully to work in SMG2...
And SM64DS looks good, but we can just as easily use matching SMG2 Textures for a better looking level.
And why not Starman Fortress? It can be in Beta Blast Galaxy I guess...
Dig-A-Leg could be a boss there, because a simular enemy appears in the Artwork.
It would also be cool to have a level based off of NSMBW... Like in 2.5D...

Well we don't want people to think it's a collection of old mario levels... Notice that outside of us, only TWO people have ever made custom levels. MrBean, who stopped, and Skawo, whose level was mostly just a test and thus, not that impressive. Besides those two, there are NO other level hacks for SMG2 online. It doesn't matter if it's "homemade". Although I agree on importing the star fort, but for the actual game... it seems a little overwhelming to have Isle Delfino, Starship Mario, AND Star Fort in the demo.
SuperMario64DS, you know what I want you to do? See if you can contact blank and have him teach you how he's been making textures on SMS models work. I want to get Delfino Plaza working, fully textured.

Oh. Epic fail. We should not use too many SMG1 levels. People will think we are making a remake on SMG.
